Explore the city’s ancient churches and discover their stories in this self-guided trail. The 3 mile trail takes in four historic churches:
- St Albans Cathedral – home to the shrine of St Alban, who gave the city its name and was Britain’s first Christian Saint
- St Michael’s Church – the most extant Anglo-Saxon building in Hertfordshire, built in the 10th century
- St Stephen’s Church – Originally built predominantly of wood in around 850, St Stephen’s was rebuilt between 1100 and 1118
- St Peter’s Church – built in the 15th century, its tower is the highest point in St Albans
